Continental is a leading tire manufacturer and industry specialist that develops and produces sustainable, safe and convenient solutions for automotive manufacturers as well as industrial and end customers worldwide.
Continental supplies factory-fitted tires for the new Audi Q3, providing year-round performance in summer heat, autumn rain and winter snow. For its compact SUV model, Audi has granted original-equipment approvals for the EcoContact 6 Q summer tire. The car manufacturer also recommends the ProContact TX10 all-season tire and the WinterContact TS 870 P winter tire. The approvals cover tire sizes from 17 to 20 inches.
Continental has received original-equipment approval for the new Volkswagen ID. Polo. The all-electric compact model will be fitted as standard with Continental’s EcoContact 7 summer tire, after the Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer approved the 17- and 18-inch sizes. Volkswagen also recommends the 18-inch versions of the AllSeasonContact 2 and the WinterContact TS 870 P.
As part of the EU-funded ZEvRA project, Continental has developed a concept tire made from around 43 percent recycled materials. The concept tire highlights the potential of innovative material approaches. It also demonstrates the need for a reliable framework when adopting recycling technologies on an industrial scale.
Continental continued its positive momentum in the second quarter of 2026. The Tires group sector achieved good results with an adjusted EBIT margin exceeding the guidance for the current fiscal year. As expected, ContiTech ended the quarter with a solid performance. Adjusted free cash flow was also significantly higher than in the previous year. These improvements were driven primarily by a higher share of tires measuring 18 inches and above, continued positive effects from raw-material prices, lower impacts from exchange rates and tariffs as well as strict cost discipline.
Continental has received original equipment approval for the all-electric Škoda Elroq. The Continental EcoContact 7 in size 235/50 R20 has been approved for the front axle and size 255/45 R20 for the rear axle of the electric SUV. “R20” indicates tires designed for 20-inch rims.
Continental has achieved 84 out of a possible 100 points in the latest EcoVadis Sustainability Rating, receiving a gold medal for its performance. With this result, the tire manufacturer ranks among the top 5 percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide. The assessment covers four themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
Continental today announced the sale of its ContiTech group sector to an affiliate of Lone Star Funds for €4.0 billion. The transaction also includes performance-based components of up to €250 million in subsequent years. The sale of its industrial business is the final step in Continental’s realignment. Once completed, the DAX-listed company will become a pure-play tire manufacturer for the first time in its history.
