Smart Performance Wins: Continental’s AllSeasonContact 2 Takes First Place in Auto Motor und Sport Test
- Overall score of 8.7 points and rating “very good” in a field of nine tires
- Strong results in wet conditions combined with top environmental performance
- Balanced performance across wet, dry and winter conditions secures overall victory
Hannover, Germany, September 14, 2026. Continental’s AllSeasonContact 2 has won the 2026 all-season tire test by the German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport. Tested in size 195/55 R16 on a Hyundai i20, the tire achieved the highest overall score in the field with 8.7 out of 10 points and was rated “very good”.
The result reflects the key challenge of all-season tire development: balancing very different performance requirements in one product. In the Auto Motor und Sport test, wet performance accounted for 40 percent of the overall score, while snow, dry performance and environmental criteria each contributed 20 percent.
“An all-season tire is always a balancing act,” says Edwin Goudwaard, Head of Research and Development at Continental Tires. “The development challenge is to combine strong wet and dry performance with reliable winter capability, mileage and efficiency in one product. Achieving that balance requires a high level of engineering work, and the Auto Motor und Sport result shows how well the AllSeasonContact 2 brings these different demands together.”
Strong overall balance decides the test
The AllSeasonContact 2 scored 8.8 points in wet conditions, 8.5 on dry roads and 7.7 on snow. It also achieved 9.7 points in the environmental category, the highest score in the test field. The result also underlines why all-season tires are judged differently from pure summer or winter specialists. Individual strengths matter, but the decisive factor is how well a tire performs across a wide range of conditions throughout the year.
Engineering the right balance
For Continental, the AllSeasonContact 2 represents this multi-target development approach. The tire is designed to combine reliable winter capability with strong wet and dry performance, high mileage and reduced rolling resistance.
The AllSeasonContact 2 is available for a broad range of passenger cars and SUVs, including electric, hybrid and combustion-engine vehicles, in sizes from 15 to 22 inches.
